Varsity Jacket Manufacturer for Labels That Have to Reorder

Jafsu Enterprises is a varsity jacket manufacturer cutting and sewing melton wool bodies, leather sleeves, striped rib trims and chenille patches to your own pattern and written spec — not to somebody else’s stock shell. Samples start at one piece, production at a low 20-piece MOQ, and every stitch, patch and label happens in our own building in Sialkot, which is what keeps drop two matching drop one.

The short answer

What Does a Varsity Jacket Manufacturer Actually Do?

A varsity jacket manufacturer builds a letterman jacket from the roll and the hide: a milled wool melton or fleece body, leather or PU sleeves, ribbed collar, cuffs and hem in your stripe sequence, a quilted lining, a snap or zip front, and the chenille and embroidered patches that carry your name. Jafsu Enterprises does all of that from a single sample piece and a low 20-piece MOQ in Sialkot, Pakistan, shipping finished bulk orders to the UK, USA, Canada, the EU and Australia.

A wholesaler sells finished shells by the carton, and a print-on-demand supplier presses a transfer onto one of them. Neither hands you a body block, a wool weight or a lining of your own. Custom varsity jacket manufacturing starts earlier than that — at the fabric and the pattern, which is where the jacket stops being someone else’s shell with your letter sewn on the chest. The same cut-and-sew discipline runs through our cut and sew production.

Roll and hide to finished jacket — where cut and sew starts

The harder question is not who makes your first 20 jackets. It is who makes the next 200 identically. Brands usually leave after the reorder — when the melton comes back half a shade lighter, the rib stripe flips order, or the chest patch sits an inch low on every piece.

That is not bad luck; it is what happens when the spec lives in a chat thread instead of a written sheet. The numbers further down are what that sheet should contain, so you can hold any varsity jacket manufacturer to them before you pay a deposit.

What we cut and sew

Customized Varsity Jackets, Built to Your Block

Six builds cover almost every programme that leaves the floor, each cut to your measurements, wool weight and trim colours — never a stock shell with a patch added at the end.

Wool body, leather sleeves

The classic letterman: milled melton body, cowhide or sheepskin sleeves, snap front and striped rib. Sleeve leather is specified by thickness, because 0.6 mm and 1.0 mm hang completely differently once the jacket is on a hanger.

All-wool melton jackets

Body and sleeves both in melton, for programmes that want weight without leather cost or leather care. Raglan and set-in sleeves are patterned separately — a raglan shoulder cannot be faked by re-cutting a set-in block.

Satin and nylon bombers

Lightweight baseball-cut varsity in polyester satin or nylon, quilt-lined for body. These carry embroidery and appliqué better than heavy chenille, so artwork is usually re-drawn rather than copied straight across from a wool build.

Fleece and cotton varsity

Three-end brushed fleece or heavy twill bodies for spring and autumn drops, priced well below wool and easier to ship in volume. Popular with streetwear labels who already run our custom hoodies and want a matching outer layer.

320–450 GSM · 9.4–13.3 oz/yd² · fleece or twill

Corduroy, denim and suede

Seasonal bodies for labels that want the varsity silhouette without the campus read. Wale count on corduroy and nap direction on suede are written into the spec, because both change how a panel looks once it is cut and joined.

Chenille letters and patches

Chenille, felt, bullion, leather and woven patches made and applied here, alongside direct embroidery, appliqué and sleeve names. Nothing is brokered out, so a patch re-run in month six uses the same yarn and the same die as the first batch.

Six Lines That Decide Whether Your Reorder Matches

Send these to every varsity jacket manufacturer you shortlist. The ones worth working with answer in numbers; the rest answer with adjectives.

  • Wool weight in both units. 815 GSM and 24 oz/yd² are the same melton; one conversion error separates the heavyweight jacket you costed from a mid-weight one.
  • Composition, not just “wool”. An 80/20 wool-polyester melton mills, felts and holds a firm edge. A 24/76 blend costs less, presses flatter and pills sooner. Ask any varsity jacket fabric manufacturer for the ratio before the price.
  • Sleeve material and thickness. Cowhide, sheepskin or PU, quoted in millimetres with the finish named — aniline, pigmented or waxed — because finish decides how the sleeve ages.
  • Rib specification. Acrylic or cotton-acrylic, with stripe widths in millimetres and the sequence written from the edge in. Reversed stripes are the single most common reorder complaint.
  • Measurement tolerance per point. Chest, body length and sleeve length from centre back each need a stated allowance, or “close enough” is decided by whoever holds the tape.
  • Patches, lining and trims, named. Chenille or felt, patch size and placement measured from the HPS, stitch count, snap type and finish, lining weight, plus the exact neck label and swing tag in every piece.

A varsity jacket manufacturer quoting against this sheet instead of a photograph can cost it in 24 to 48 hours, and the sample you approve then becomes the spec that bulk is measured against.

The sheet travels with the order

Cutting, stitching, patch making, embroidery, snapping, labelling and packing all happen in one building — the advantage of a varsity jacket manufacturer that brokers nothing out. Measurements checked at inspection are the ones written at quoting, and your patterns and artwork stay yours.

The hard numbers

Fabrics, Quantities and Lead Times

Any varsity jacket fabric manufacturer should publish weights in both units, because a factory quoting in GSM and a buyer costing in ounces are describing the same melton. The conversion factor is 33.906.

Weight converter: what does that melton actually feel like?

How a Varsity Order Runs Through the Factory

Every order takes the same five stages, whether it is a 20-piece drop or a 2,000-piece bulk programme.

  1. Enquiry and costing

Send a tech pack, a reference jacket or a sketch with measurements. Back comes a mockup and per-piece costing split by body fabric, sleeves, trims and patches, so you can see exactly which line to change.

    24–48 hours
  2. Pattern and spec lock

Measurements, wool weight, sleeve thickness, rib stripes, tolerances, lining and patch placements confirmed in writing. Revisions here cost nothing; the same one after cutting costs a run.

    Before sampling begins
  3. One-piece sample

One sewn jacket in your fabric, fit and decoration. Wear it, measure it, check the patch height on a body rather than a screen. Nothing goes to bulk until you approve this piece.

    1 pc · 7–10 working days
  4. Production

Spreading, cutting, sleeve setting, rib attachment, printing, embroidery and patch work, then labelling and packing, with inline and endline checks throughout.

    14–25 working days by volume
  5. QC and dispatch

QC photographs and video reach you before the balance falls due, then express dispatch with tracking and export paperwork handled at this end.

Who we build for

Four Kinds of Buyer, One Production Line

Varsity jacket manufacturing sees the same four buyers. The brief changes; the line does not.

Streetwear and DTC labels

Drop cycles, not seasons. A low MOQ of 20 pieces per design lets you shoot, list and sell a varsity before the next colourway is cut, alongside your streetwear range.

Schools, colleges and teams

Letterman programmes with chest letters, sleeve names and year patches, graded YS–YXL and S–4XL so one block covers a whole squad and its coaching staff.

Wholesale and bulk buyers

Distributors and stockists ordering repeat volume, with bulk price breaks at 100, 300, 500 and 1,000+ pieces against a spec that does not drift between runs.

ODM and white-label buyers

As a varsity jacket ODM and OEM manufacturer we either build strictly to your tech pack, or develop a jacket from our own blocks for you to badge and sell.

Answers up front

Varsity Jacket Manufacturer FAQ

What is the minimum order for custom varsity jackets?

Samples start at one piece and production at a low MOQ of 20 pieces per design and colourway, split across YS–YXL and S–4XL. Most varsity jacket manufacturers ask for 100 to 500 pieces, so a 20-piece run lets a new label or a small squad release a real jacket without funding stock it has not yet sold.

How do I choose between custom varsity jacket manufacturers?

Ask every shortlisted supplier for the same six numbers: wool weight in GSM and oz/yd², melton composition, sleeve material and thickness in millimetres, rib stripe widths, measurement tolerance per point and exact patch and trim specifications. The best answer in figures; the rest say premium and one-stop. Then sample the two best answers before committing to bulk.

What fabric is a real varsity jacket made from?

The classic body is wool melton, usually an 80/20 wool-polyester blend at 680 to 815 GSM, or 20 to 24 oz/yd². Sleeves are cowhide or sheepskin leather at 0.6 to 1.0 mm, or PU for a lower price point. Trims are acrylic or cotton-acrylic rib, and the lining is normally quilted polyester satin.

Do you supply brands in the USA?

Yes. We manufacture in Sialkot, Pakistan and ship door to door to the USA, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia by DHL, FedEx and UPS, usually 4 to 6 business days. Choosing a custom varsity jacket manufacturer USA-side trades transit time against unit cost; our quotes stay landed-cost comparable at bulk volume.

Leather or PU sleeves — which should I choose?

Genuine leather ages, softens and justifies a premium retail price, but adds cost, weight and freight. PU keeps the same look at a lower unit price, ships lighter and suits youth sizes and large team orders. Many brands run leather on the flagship colourway and PU on the volume one.

What is the difference between an OEM and an ODM varsity jacket manufacturer?

OEM means we build exactly to your pattern, tech pack and artwork, and nothing is decided here. ODM means we develop the jacket from our own blocks and fabric library, and you approve, badge and sell it. As a varsity jacket ODM and OEM manufacturer we run both, and plenty of brands start on ODM and move to OEM once their block is proven.

Can I get chenille patches and custom lining on a 20-piece run?

Yes. Chenille letters, felt and leather patches, direct embroidery, sleeve names, custom neck labels and printed or coloured lining are all available at the 20-piece MOQ, because patch making and embroidery happen in-house rather than at a subcontractor with its own minimums.

Do you supply wholesale volumes and repeat orders?

Yes. Repeat runs are produced against the same written spec and the same approved sample, with bulk price breaks at 100, 300, 500 and 1,000+ pieces, and lead times of 14 to 18 working days for 50 to 300 pieces or 20 to 25 for 500 to 1,000+. Payment is a 50% deposit with the balance before dispatch.
