What You’ll Find on the Jafsu Blog
The Jafsu Enterprises blog is a set of practical guides for anyone having clothing made: starting a brand with a manufacturer, how minimum order quantities work, what drives the cost of a garment and how to write a tech pack, plus shorter guides on printing methods, fabrics, garment care and product styling. The guides are written by the team that cuts, sews and prints the orders, using the figures we quote to real buyers.
A lot of manufacturing advice online is written by people who have never costed a garment. The numbers here come from our own production: one sewn sample in 7–10 working days, production from 20 pieces per design and colourway, and bulk lead times of 14–18 working days for 50–300 pieces. Where a figure changes with fabric, decoration or order size, the guide says so instead of rounding it into a promise.
Four Guides to Read Before You Contact Any Factory
Read them in order and you’ll arrive at a quote request knowing what to send, what to ask and what a fair price looks like.
How to Start a Clothing Brand with a Manufacturer
The full route from idea to first delivery: choosing your garment family and fit, preparing a spec, shortlisting factories, approving a one-piece sample and planning a first drop you can afford to hold. It finishes with what full private label manufacturing should include, so your garments arrive under your own name.
- How to shortlist three to five factories and spot a trading office posing as one
- What to send for a first quote: tech pack, reference garment or sketch
- Sample, sign-off, deposit, production, dispatch: the real timeline
What Is a Tech Pack? (+ Free Template)
What a tech pack contains, why it cuts sampling rounds, and a free template covering flat sketches, the graded measurement chart, fabric, trims and print placements.
What Is MOQ in Clothing Manufacturing?
Why factories set minimums, the difference between MOQ per design, per colourway and per size, and how a 20-piece run changes the maths for a first drop.
How Much Does It Cost to Manufacture a Hoodie?
A line-by-line breakdown of a per-piece price: fabric weight, cutting and stitching, decoration per placement, labels and trims, freight and duty, and where the price breaks fall.
Each guide links through to the service it relates to: private label clothing manufacturing, our tech pack service and custom hoodie manufacturing.
Find the Right Guide for Where Your Brand Is Now
Pick the stage that sounds most like you. You’ll get the one guide to read first and three things to have ready before you contact a factory.
How to Start a Clothing Brand with a Manufacturer
Before designs, decide what you’re making and how much of it. That one decision sets your fabric, your factory shortlist and your budget.
- One garment family for the first drop: hoodies, tees or activewear, not all three
- A budget for one sample plus a 20–40 piece first run
- Three to five reference garments whose fit you like
What Is a Tech Pack?
A design becomes a garment only when the measurements, fabric and placements are written down. That document is the tech pack, and it is what makes two factories’ quotes comparable.
- Front and back flat sketches
- A measurement chart for every size you’ll sell
- Fabric composition and weight in GSM or oz/yd²
No tech pack yet? We also work from a reference garment, photographs or a sketch with measurements.
What Is MOQ in Clothing Manufacturing?
Two quotes with the same unit price can hide very different minimums. Check how each supplier counts its MOQ before you compare anything else.
- Ask whether the minimum is per design, per colourway or per size
- Ask whether one run can be split across the size curve
- Ask for an itemised per-piece costing, not a single figure
How Much Does It Cost to Manufacture a Hoodie?
Know what each line of the price pays for before a deposit leaves your account, and approve a sewn sample before any bulk commitment exists.
- One approved sample in your fabric, fit and decoration
- Payment terms in writing; ours are a 50% deposit with the balance before dispatch
- QC photographs and video of the finished run before the balance is due
Printing, Fabric, Care and Product Guides
Shorter guides on decoration methods, fabrics and fit, garment care and the styling questions your customers ask, each written for brands that have their garments made. Filter by topic.
What Type of T-Shirt Printing Lasts the Longest?
Sublimation and properly cured screen prints last as long as the shirt. Where DTG, DTF and heat transfer vinyl fall behind, wash after wash.
What Is Sublimation Ink?
A disperse-dye ink that turns to gas under heat and bonds inside polyester, so the print becomes part of the fabric instead of a layer on top.
Can You Sublimate a Fleece Hoodie?
Yes, on white or light polyester fleece. Why cotton-rich fleece fades, and how all-over prints are sublimated flat before the hoodie is sewn.
How to Make Puff Print Hoodies
Plastisol ink with an expanding additive, screen printed and heat-cured until it rises into a soft, raised print, and what decides how long it lasts.
What Is a Fleece Hoodie?
A knitted fabric brushed on the inside for warmth. The difference between three-thread cotton fleece and polyester polar fleece, and how to spec yours.
Are Rash Guards Supposed to Be Tight?
Snug like a second skin, but never so tight that it restricts breathing or shoulder rotation. How the right fit changes from sport to sport.
Do Rash Guards Keep You Warm?
A standard rash guard doesn’t. Where real warmth comes from, including thermal rash guards with a brushed or fleece-lined inner face.
How to Wash a Rhinestone Hoodie
Wait 24–48 hours after the stones go on, then wash cold, inside out, in a mesh bag and dry flat. The steps that keep the stones attached.
How to Wash a BAPE Hoodie
Close the zip, turn it inside out, wash cold on a gentle cycle and dry flat, and what premium streetwear care means for your own labels.
What to Wear With Black Hoodies
Why the black hoodie anchors most streetwear and merch ranges, how customers wear it, and what it takes to get yours right.
How to Dress Up a Sweatshirt
Heavier fabric that holds a clean line, a structured rib and a considered fit. The construction details that let a sweatshirt dress up.
What to Wear With a Women’s Polo Shirt
Trousers, denim, tennis skirts or a blazer: a polo works in each outfit only when it was cut for a woman’s body.
What to Wear With Black Shorts
Black shorts cross from gym to streetwear to smart-casual more easily than any other colour, which is why most shorts ranges start there.
What to Wear With Leather Shorts
Knits, blazers, tights and boots: the outfits customers build around leather shorts, and which of them your pair should be made for.

Questions About the Jafsu Blog
Who writes the Jafsu Enterprises blog?
The guides are written and checked by the Jafsu Enterprises production team, the people who cost, cut, sew and decorate the orders. Figures such as the 1-piece sample, the 20-piece MOQ and the 14–18 working-day bulk lead time are the terms we quote to buyers, not industry averages.
I’m starting my first clothing brand. Which guide should I read first?
Start with How to Start a Clothing Brand with a Manufacturer, then What Is a Tech Pack?, then the MOQ and cost guides. Read in that order, they take you from an idea to a quote request that any factory can price accurately.
Do I need a tech pack before I contact a manufacturer?
No. A tech pack speeds up sampling and reduces revision rounds, but we also work from a reference garment, photographs or a sketch with measurements. The full specification, including measurements per size, fabric weight and decoration placements, is confirmed with you in writing before any fabric is cut.
What is the minimum order at Jafsu Enterprises?
One piece for a sample and 20 pieces per design and colourway for production, split across the size curve. Many factories start at 200 pieces or more per design; the MOQ guide explains how minimums are counted and why they differ so much between suppliers.
Can I suggest a topic for a future guide?
Yes. Send your question by email or WhatsApp. Questions that come up again and again from buyers are the ones we write up first.
