The short answer

What Does a Private Label Clothing Manufacturer Actually Do?

A private label clothing manufacturer builds garments to your own pattern, fabric and written spec, then decorates, labels and packs them so the finished piece carries nothing but your brand. Jafsu Enterprises does that from one sample piece, a 20-piece low MOQ and bulk runs from 100 up, shipping from Sialkot to the UK, USA, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Private label vs white label clothing is the decision underneath that. White label clothing production sells you a finished body a hundred other sellers can also buy. A private label clothing line starts earlier — at the block, the fabric roll and the grading — so the fit, weight and hand-feel stay yours. That is where cut and sew production stops being someone else’s garment with your logo on it.

Roll to labelled piece — where private label starts

The harder question is not who makes your first 20 pieces, but who makes the next 500 identically. Brands leave after the reorder, when the fleece returns a shade lighter or the neck label sits crooked — what happens when the spec lives in a chat thread instead of a written sheet.

What we cut, sew and label

Six Programmes That Build a Private Label Clothing Brand

Each is cut to your measurements and fabric weight, finished with your own labelling, from one sample piece through to bulk volume.

Private label heavyweight charcoal fleece hoodie with a bold CUSTOM DESIGN chest print and a woven neck label

Heavyweight hoodies

Pullover, full-zip and half-zip bodies in brushed three-end fleece with double-lined hoods and matched ribbing. Drop-shoulder blocks are patterned separately, not graded up — scaling a regular body gives a large hoodie, not an oversized one. See the hoodie options.

320–450+ GSM · 9.4–13.3 oz/yd² · 3-end brushed fleece
Oversized boxy 100% cotton t-shirt with a bold CUSTOM DESIGN chest print, folded flat

Oversized and boxy tees

High quality 100% cotton blanks for streetwear in boxy, drop-shoulder or classic bodies, plus CVC where stretch matters. Weight decides most tees: thin jersey creases, heavier jersey stands square on the shoulder. See our t-shirt production.

180–280 GSM · 5.3–8.3 oz/yd² · combed cotton, CVC
French terry crewneck sweatshirt with a ribbed collar and a bold CUSTOM DESIGN chest print

Crewnecks and loungewear

The hoodie fleece family in set-in or drop-shoulder builds, with V-inserts, ribbed hems and matching lounge bottoms. French terry leaves its loops unbrushed, so it breathes and takes a crisper print; brushed fleece trades that for warmth.

320–450+ GSM · French terry or brushed fleece
Tapered fleece joggers with a drawcord waist and a CUSTOM DESIGN thigh print, folded flat

Joggers and sweatpants

Tapered, straight and relaxed legs with drawcord waists, zip, ribbed or open hems and cargo pockets. Joggers ordered with hoodies are cut from one dye lot — two lots of a colour read as a mismatch on the rail.

320–450+ GSM · matched to your hoodie dye lot
Private label activewear set with a CUSTOM DESIGN print, shown as a matching top and leggings

Activewear and gym sets

Private label activewear and loungewear in poly-spandex, micro-poly and cotton-blend jersey: leggings, shorts, training tops, two-piece sets. Flatlock seams and elastic waistbands, sized YS–YXL youth and S–4XL adult, alongside our fitnesswear production.

140–300 GSM · poly-spandex, micro-poly, cotton blends
Stack of folded custom blank clothing in neutral colours with woven brand labels, no prints

Custom blank clothing

Undecorated streetwear blanks in your body, weight and colourway with your woven label already sewn in, so your own printer decorates later — useful when artwork changes faster than fabric does.

Six Lines That Decide Whether Your Reorder Matches

Send these to every private label clothing manufacturer you shortlist. The ones worth working with answer in numbers; the rest answer with adjectives.

  • Fabric weight in both units. 400 GSM and 11.8 oz/yd² are the same cloth; one conversion error separates the heavyweight hoodie you costed from a mid-weight one.
  • Knit construction, not just “fleece”. Three-end fleece uses a ground, tie-in and pile yarn — the fullest, most stable sweatshirt knit. Two-end fabric left unbrushed is French terry.
  • Composition and finish. 100% combed cotton, CVC and 80/20 blends wash differently; compacted and garment-dyed cloth holds measurements better.
  • Shrinkage tolerance in writing. The Sanforized standard allows knits up to 5% change; cotton fleece at 280–360 GSM commonly moves 3–5% in length on a warm wash.
  • Measurement tolerance per point. Chest, length and sleeve each need a stated allowance, or “close enough” is decided by whoever holds the tape.
  • Labelling and branding, named. Ink system, print placement from the HPS, stitch count, and the exact woven label, care tag, swing tag and polybag in every piece.

A full-package clothing manufacturer quoting against this sheet, not a photograph, costs it in 24–48 hours — and the sample you approve becomes the spec bulk is measured against.

The sheet travels with the order

Cutting, stitching, custom screen printing and embroidery, labelling and packing happen in one building — the advantage of a manufacturer that brokers nothing out. Measurements checked at inspection are the ones written at quoting.

The hard numbers

Fabric Weights, Low MOQ and Bulk Lead Times

Every private label clothing manufacturer should publish these in both units, because a factory quoting in GSM and a buyer costing in ounces are describing the same cloth.

How to Start a Private Label Clothing Line in Five Stages

The same route runs a 20-piece low MOQ test and a 2,000-piece bulk order.

  1. Enquiry and costing

Send a tech pack, a reference garment or a sketch with measurements. Back comes a mockup and per-piece costing split by fabric, decoration and trims, so you can see what to change.

    24–48 hours
  2. Pattern and spec lock

Measurements, GSM, construction, tolerances, trims and label placement confirmed in writing. Revisions here cost nothing; the same one after cutting costs a run.

    Before sampling begins
  3. One-piece sample

One sewn garment in your fabric, fit and branding. Wash it, wear it, measure it. Nothing goes to bulk until you approve it.

    1 pc · 7–10 working days
  4. Production and branding

Spreading, cutting, stitching, custom screen printing or embroidery, then labels, tags and packing, with inline and endline checks.

    14–25 working days by volume
  5. QC and dispatch

QC photographs and video reach you before the balance falls due, then express dispatch with tracking and paperwork handled here.

Four Kinds of Buyer, One Production Line

Private label manufacturers see the same four buyers. The brief changes; the line does not.

New private label brands

A first private label clothing brand needs proof before volume. Twenty pieces per design lets you shoot, list and sell before the next is cut. Our step-by-step guide on how to start a clothing brand walks through it.

Sellers leaving white label

The graphics sell and the blank is the ceiling. This is where private label beats white label clothing production: your own body, weight and label.

Wholesale and bulk buyers

Distributors and stockists ordering repeat volume against a locked spec, with bulk price breaks at 100, 300, 500 and 1,000+.

Gyms, clubs and agencies

Merch programmes and staff kit where activewear, loungewear and hoodies ship under one label, on one dye lot.

Private Label Clothing Manufacturer FAQ

What is the minimum order for private label clothing?

Samples start at one piece and low MOQ production at 20 pieces per design and colourway, split across S to 4XL. Most private label manufacturers ask for 200 to 1,000, so a 20-piece run lets a new label release a real drop without funding stock it has not sold yet.

What is the difference between private label and white label clothing?

White label clothing production puts your label on a finished body any other seller can also buy. Private label means the pattern, fabric weight, grading and trims are yours and cut for you alone. White label launches faster; private label gives you a fit competitors cannot order next week.

How do I start a private label clothing line?

Pick one garment, lock a written spec, sample it at one piece, then order 20 to 40 pieces in one colourway and sell through before adding SKUs. Brands that fail usually launch six designs at once and find the same fit issue on all six.

Do you handle private label apparel manufacturing for USA brands?

Yes. We manufacture in Sialkot and ship door to door to the USA, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia by DHL, FedEx and UPS, usually 4 to 6 business days. Domestic private label apparel manufacturing USA-side trades transit time against unit cost; our quotes stay landed-cost comparable at volume.

Can I order custom blank clothing without any printing?

Yes. Custom blank clothing and streetwear blanks are produced in your own block, weight and colourway with your woven label and care tag sewn in, ready for your printer. High quality 100% cotton blanks for streetwear sit between 180 and 280 GSM, fleece from 320 GSM up.

What labelling and branding options are included?

Custom apparel labeling and branding covers woven and printed neck labels, heat transfer tags, care and size labels, side seam labels, swing tags, hang loops, drawcord tips and branded polybags — all specified before sampling, so the approved sample shows what bulk will carry.

What GSM should a private label hoodie be?

Most sit between 320 and 450+ GSM, or 9.4 to 13.3 oz/yd². At 320 GSM, French terry breathes for spring drops and takes a crisp screen print. From 400 GSM up, three-end brushed fleece holds an oversized silhouette and gives embroidery a fuller finish.

Do you supply bulk volumes and repeat orders?

Yes. Repeat runs are produced against the same written spec, with price breaks at 100, 300, 500 and 1,000+ pieces and lead times of 14 to 18 working days for 50 to 300 pieces, or 20 to 25 for 500 to 1,000+.
